Hi, this is Matt. I'm taking over this page

THE BLACK DEATH

Years

1347 - Present

The Black Death, or the Black Plague or Bubonic Plague was one of the deadliest diseases in human history. Many people thought the plague to have been caused by a bacterium called Yersinia pestis. This bacterium also causes two other types of plague. The two types of plagues that were caused by the Yersinia pestis are the septicemic and pneumonic. The origins of the plague are disputed among scholars. Some historians believe the pandemic began in China or Central Asia in the late 1320s or 1330s. Some others think that the plague may have started in a lake called Issyk Kul. Historians believe to have said that there are other places.

People back then didn't find the cause of the bubonic plague.

In the 19th century the plague finally disappeared from Europe. Even though the plague had disappeared it had wiped out 75 million people in the world and about one to two thirds of the deaths were from Europe. Approximately that is 30-60% of the population that was in Europe. As long as it has almost has been vanished in that time it had wiped out at most 100 million people. Still to this day though, there are 1,000-3,000 people who still have bubonic plague in the world. Luckly only 10-20 people usually in rural areas. The problem is that the bubonic plague still kills half of the people who still has it without treatment in 3- 7 days

Now we know what it is and the causes were mice, fleas, lice, prairie dogs, cats, dogs, squirrels, wood rats, and chipmunks. These animals are known to carry the bacterium.

This is a picture of Sicily, Italy. It was said that the plague started most likely been in China. Then merchant ship brought mice to Sicily. Then the plague spread.

Great page Matt. Can you add more information on why the plague disappeared. Also, add some famous people who died in the plauge.

Really good page Matt,
Make the font a little bigger perhaps, add a picture of where it spread, or a video about the effects of the plague.
I really like it! Keep it up!
