ORGINS:
Siberian Huskies are very strong, hardy sled dogs originating from Siberia(Or Russia :D). They were bred to pull sleighs in teams usually consisting in about seven or 8 dogs. They can withstand temperatures up to -60 degrees Fahrenheit.

APPEARANCE:
They look almost like wolves, only huskies are usually solid or two colors as opposed to the wider color range of the wolf.
(Wolves are usually beige-ish and grey with points of black, but can be many solid colors from black to white to beige to tan.{But not bright reds and greens like in fan art and fiction ;)

One very noticeable thing about these dogs are their eyes, they could have magnificent glacier blue eyes or chocolate brown eyes, or one of each. When they have one of each, it is called bi-color. :) Alaskan malamutes are like larger versions of huskies. Huskies are medium-large in size and about 40-60 lbs. Common litter size is 6-8 puppies.
TEMPERAMENT:
Siberian huskies are very friendly and good with children. They are robust, strong, and they have a lot of energy. So, if you don't have a nice, large backyard, or have time to walk, huskies won't be too happy. As any other dog, they are only aggressive if not trained and adjusted to humans and other animals. So, please train your dog well, for you, everyone/thing around you, and most importantly your dogs' sake.
FAMOUS HUSKIES:
Лаика/Laika: The first dog in space:
Laika was a stray Siberian husky mix who was chosen to be the first animal(Except for microorganisms and stuff) to be in space! Laika's spacecraft was the Sputnik II, a Russian spacecraft. :D

Her name means "Barker" and is a name for various breeds of Siberian dogs. Another name for her was "Little curly haired one" or "Kudryavka/Кудрявкa". However, scientists preferred to call her Curly. (Fare thee well, Laika!!! *sob*)There is a statue of her in Moscow and the carrier she was held in is in the Chabot space and science center (I saw it! Squeee!)
Balto: Savior of Nome
Balto was a wolf siberian husky mix who lived in Anchorage, Alaska. He saved a bunch of people by delivering medicine by dog sled while airplanes, boats and the sort didn't work. Everyone in the village could have died if not for him.
He is remembered today with a statue in Anchorage. :D And a statue in New York City. There is a movie about him too.

Charlie: Strongest dog ever as of 1963
Charlie lifted a 3,142 lb sledge and was therefore claimed the strongest dog ever.
(There are no pictures of Charlie)
Grizzly: Ginga Nagareboshi Gin, much?
Grizzly was a purebred silver Siberian Husky, he saved his owner, Paul, from a bear attack. Even through he was constrained by a sledding harness, he still succeeded to drive away the bear who was protecting her cubs. This sounds a lot like a cartoon show called Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. (Or Hopeanuoli in Finland:D)
(No pictures of Grizzly, either.)
The Iditarod!
Siberian huskies are often chosen to run for the iditarod. The iditarod is a legendary race that takes place in a town near Anchorage, Alaska. It ends in Nome. The teams have to cross the Alaskan wilderness. It has temperatures at about -50 degrees F, but since there is wind chill, the temperatures are close to -130 degrees F. :)
