Red Fox~!
What
do they look like?

Red foxes are part of the dog family. They are dog like animals with a sharp pointed nose, erect ears, and a bushy tail. They are small, usually weighing between 10 and 14 lbs. Although they come in colors from black to blond, they are usually red with black legs and a white tipped tail.

A black red fox! :) Pretty~! Aww!! :D
What
do they eat?

The red foxes diet is made up of of rodents, insects, worms, fruits, birds, eggs, and many other kinds of small animals. Those that live in neighborhoods rely mostly on house hold waste, and rodens & birds that move around the areas. Red foxes hunt by using their sensitive ears that can detect the low frequency sounds of small animals moving underground or under the snow. When they hear a sound, they dig up the soil or snow to find the prey and eat it up!

Poor mouse :'D
Where
do they live?

Red foxes are the most common species of fox. They are found throughout most of the US and Canada. They live in woodlands and farmland. Most adult foxes live alone except in the mating season between January and February and when raising young. Foxes were introduced to the US from Europe in the 1700s because people enjoyed hunting them. Those foxes bred with the native foxes to create the red fox that we know today. Red fox skins were once very popular, but now that people are more aware of the fur trade, fox skins are at a lower demand. Now their numbers are increasing, and their territories are expanding! :)
The red area is where red foxes live.

Kits~!!
Picture from here
Kits (young foxes) are born between March and May. There are usually 1-10 kits in a litter. They are born in dens that the mothers make before she gives birth to them. A mother fox sometimes uses the same den year after year. After one month, kits feed on regurgitated food that their mother or other female foxes bring to them. They also come up out of the den to play around this time. The mother starts to bring live food for the kits to eat when they start to grow up. The kits eventually learn to hunt by watching their parents. <3

very cute page ^w^, but you might want to add how long the average red foxes life span is, and why are some red foxes black? Is it a genetic defect?
