Now you Know:

+ Jellyfish are not actually fish. They are sometimes called "jellies" or "sea jellies" due to that fact.

+ Jellyfish are 95-99% made up of water!

+ Jellyfish kill the most people out of all marine animals.

+ Jellyfish's mouth to eat is also where it poops.

+ A group of Jellyfish is called a  "smack" or "bloom"

Jellyfish have been around longer than dinosaurs and sharks! (650 MILLION YEARS AGO)

+ Jellyfish's tentacles can be as long as a FOOTBALL FIELD!

"If Only I Had Brain..., and Some Glasses..."

Jellyfish are everywhere! (Mostly in water with the exception of when the currents push them onto the shore.) You've probably seen at least one jellyfish even in a picture or in realtime, but you'll probably think that they look like floppy, stringy mushrooms that come in a variety of colours from reds to greens to blues to oranges. Jellyfish have NO BRAIN and are made entirely of nerve cells! ( NO WAY!) Even though they don't have a brain, they have a sufficient amount of nerve cells to sense light changes and even smell. Also, don't assume that jellyfish don't have eyes, the box jellyfish, for example, scientists have found 8 to 24 eyes which function EXTREMELY well! They are equiped with working retinas which provide a blurred vision to focus on a large object. And remember! If you think jellyfish have a spine, you are WRONG, fool! Jellyfish DO NOT have a spine nor bones! Remember that!

Jellyfish's Day to Day Food...and Predators

Jellyfish's are carnivorous, which means that they eat other marine animals! They feed mostly on zooplankton, comb jellies, and sometimes other jellyfish! But they are hunted by a variety of animals. Some animals that eat jellyfish are the spadefish, sunfish, and sea turtles, etc. But us humans are also one of their predators..actually, we are their GREATEST predators. If you haven't noticed, Asia fishes and eats jellyfish so much it's a multi-millionare dollar seafood business. Humans eat it eather picked, dried, or rarely ALIVE!

Where Jellyfish Live...not in houses.

Jellyfish live in all oceans from the freezing cold Artic Ocean to the warm tropical waters of the Caribbean. The Jellyfish are found mostly in the oceans near the equator which means they like the warm temperature with tropical and subtropical waters such as the Caribbean Sea, the Atlantic Ocean, the Pacific Ocean, and the Indian Ocean. This is why people usually see jellyfish wash up the shores and banks of the warm tropical regions. Jellyfish like to ride on the currents of the ocean so they sometimes get washed up on the shore of a remote beach or a very crowded one.

The Stinging Jelly...

You probably know that Jellyfish have tentacles. But if you don't know, READ THIS! Each of the jellies tentacles carries over A  MILLION  stinging cells called nematocysts which shoot out a barbed thread which sometimes will carry poison when something comes in contact with the tentacle(s). Even when a jellyfish is dead on the shore, the stinging cells still will sting. So this can be a danger for many curious beach dwellers! Some jellyfish stings can be QUITE  dangerous and serious! Some symptons that happen when someone is stung is you feel a burning sensation, redness, and swelling. This can be fatel if someone has an allergic reaction, or has a weak defence against the sting.

How to Treat and Prevent Jellyfish

When you are unfortunetly stung by a jellyfish, DO NOT PANIC!!! Here is how to treat the possibly infected wound.

1.) Watch out! There may still be tentacles on your skin! Wash the tentacles off with salt water, DO NOT USE FRESH WATER!!! It will worsen the pain!

2.) Remove any other tentacles with a glove or tweezers.

3.) Use vinager to null the painful venom.

4.) Take care of the wound until healing has finished.

5.) You should also see medical treatment from doctors just in case you are allergic to the sting.

Make sure to protect yourself before entering the water. Wear swimming clothing to protect your skin and make sure you have a friend or relative to help you just in case it's fatel to you, which can be death. Do not pee on the sting because it doesn't have enough acid to null the venom.

GODZILLA!!!!

JAPANESE!

 More About Godzilla..!

If you are in shock, you'll be even more shocked! Guess what? Godzilla is actually a Jellyfish!!! Don't doubt me, It's true. But it's not actually called "Godzilla", it's called "Nomura's Jellyfish"! The connection is that they are both japanese monsters!!!!  Nomura's jellyfish are huge, they are usually up to 6'7'' without the tentacles! They can be even over 450 pounds! Even though these gianormous jellyfish look like your worst nightmares, their sting is practically harmless! It has only been reported fatel because the sting might cause fluid to build up in the lungs. (which causes death...BTW)

Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Cnidaria
Class:

Scyphozoa

Order:

Rhizostomae

Family: Stomolophidae
Genus: Nemopilema
Species: N. Nomurai

 Godzilla EXTERMINATION!!

In Japan, people run in TERROR! This isn't because Godzilla destroyed their awesome candy store, no no...it's because "Godzilla"  aka "Nomura's Jellyfish" has terrorized Japan's seas/oceans. They swarm in the seas while migrating somewhere ( I  don't know where) and Japan has tried to stop this swarming by putting in "giant fish nets"  which can catch over 1000 jellyfish in one net. They have even tried to not let them reproduce regularly! Humans are greatly interfeared by Nomura's jellyfish's impact. Since the jellyfish is so large, it interfears with imcoming boats and cruises. (Poor jellies)
