·         German shepherds are used as police dogs,guard and war dogs all around the world.

·         There strength,intelligence,and abilities in obedience make them one of the most prized dogs in the world.

·         They are ranked the fifth most popular in the united states.

·         German shepherds can be bullies to other dogs and humans  because they have been reported for the most bites along with small attacks on other dogs.

            Health:German shepherds have a few problems of health later in there life.One of the problems are hip and elbow dyspasia,which may lead to pain later in there life.This may also cause arthritis.Because German shepherds also have large and open ears,they are prone to having ear infections.German shepherds are also prone to bloat.

The average lifespan of a German Shepherd is 9-14 years,which is normal for a dog their size.German shepherds are prone to more

diseases than most dogs.

Temperament:Shepherds have a loyal nature and bond well with people they know.However ,they can become over-protective of their family and territory,especially if not socialized correctly.Shepherds don’t usually tend to be immediate friends with strangers but once they accept you as family you are bonded for life.

Aggression and biting:German shepherds have a reputation among some people for biting and have been banned in some jurisdictions.Although once trained and socialized they are very safe.The bite of a German Shepherd Dogs has a force of over 200 pounds which means it is important to note the impact that ‘reported’ bites and serious injury have on any dog bite studies and to distinguish a dog attack from ‘aggression’.

Ability to work:German Shepherds are very popular when use as working dogs.They are known for police work.Used for tracking criminals,and patrolling troubled areas.Also,German shepherds have been used by the military.Usually trained for scout duty,they are used to warn soldiers to the presence of enemes or of booby traps and other hazards.German Shepherds have also been trained by military groups to parachute from aircrafts

They have also been used in search and rescue,narcotis detection,explosives detection,accelerant detection,and mine detection dog.They are well suited for these jobs because they have a good sense of smell,mental abilities,fearlessness,and there attachment.
