Food chain
There are three main facts of food chain in our environment. The first one is that the further along the food chain you go, the less food (that means like strong animals) remains
available.
For example as you can see, this picture is showing that what animals are in top of it and the number
of living things. So if snacks are 3, rabbits are 9.
The second one is most food chain have no more than four or five links.
Becaused the animals at the end of the chain would not get enough food and
energy to stay alive.
The third one is "A change in the size of one population in a food chain will affect other
populations." Think about it, if there are too many frogs, it might eat all of the insects. And that
insects would get extinct. Most of the insects are working for our environment but if they extinct,
our environment would get big damage. That's why food chain is important.
In nearly all food chains, solar energy is input into the system as light and heat, in a process called
photosynthesis. Carbon dioxide and water are reduced to sugars (glucose), capable of storing the solar
energy. This energy, is expended for cellular processes, growth, and development.
