What is Breast Cancer?
Breast cancer is a uncontrolled growth of breast cells. Breast cancer occurs as a result of mutations, or abnormal changes, in the genes responsible for controlling the growth of cells. Genes are in each of the cell's nucleus. Normally, the cells in our bodies replace themselves through a process of cell growth. When healthy new cells take over the old ones that die out. Yet breast cancer is the most frequent tumor found in women worldwide. Men can get breast cancer as well though this is very rare.

Dimpling or puckering of the skin, like an orange peel.In recent years, there's been an explosion of life-saving treatment advances against breast cancer, bringing new hope and excitement. Instead of only one or two options, today there's an overwhelming menu of treatment choices that fight the complex mix of cells in each individual cancer. Like surgery, then perhaps radiation, hormonal (anti-estrogen) therapy, and/or chemotherapy can feel overwhelming.
