Black Rhinos also known as Diceros bicornis are a spieces of rhinos that live in eastern and central parts of Africa. Even though the rhinos have the word "black" in it, the rhinos are a sort of a grey color. An adult black rhino weighs to 1,800 to 3,100 lb.
It feeds on twigs, leaves, hearbs and shoots. The black rhino has a horn above its nose. Its horn are used to defend itself, intimidating other animals, and digging up roots and breaking branches. Their horns are used in traditional Chinese medicines that helps revive patients, and cure fevers. In the Middle East, the horn is used to make handles for daggers. The horns soon became a popluar demand. The rhinos population was cut by 96% between 1970 and 1992.
There are many forms of communication with these animals. Because of their bad eyesight, their scent is used to identify other black rhinos. Growls are using during fights. A long snort might be used to indicate danger. Sneeze-like calls are used as an alarm to danger. A high pitched wonk would be used for when they are fearful
.
Black rhinos live by themselves beside the females and their offsprings. Females reproduce only every two and a half to five years. The offsprings don't live by itself into its about three years old. The rhinos could be found in Africa, that was before they became extinct.
