Welcome to Alex's awesome page about Bearded Dragons. Bearded Dragons are from Australia. Another name for Bearded Dragons are Pogona vitticeps. The Bearded Dragons color are from tan to yellow.
It is called "bearded" because of the dragon's ability to flare out the skin in the throat region when it is threatened or territorial.
Bearded Dragons are cold-blooded animals from arid woodland and desert environments, and require supplemental heat for proper digestion. Bearded Dragons have broad triangular heads and flattened bodies, with adults reaching approximately 18 to 26 inches (45-60 cm or 1 1/2 ft-2 ft) from head to tail.
Bearded dragons live to ten years if they are lucky.
In the wild, bearded dragons are omnivores, eating a mixture of invertebrate and vertebrate prey (such as insects and smaller animals) as well as plant material. In captivity, they should be fed a combination of insects (mostly crickets, with a variety of other cultured insect prey) and greens and vegetables. One more pray are rats.
Some disease bearded dragons get are mites, terminal ingestion, thermal burns, calcium defiancy, vitamin a toxicity, respitory infections, internal parisites, and egg binding.
